Founding Partner
Eric Samler
Eric graduated from the Washington College of Law at American University in 1986 and is a member of the state bars of Maryland, the District of Columbia, New Mexico, and Colorado. He served as a staff attorney for the New Mexico Court of Appeals and has 34 years of appellate experience. Eric frequently participates in trainings throughout Colorado and has been a regular author of the Criminal Law Update in the Colorado Bar Association’s annual update of Criminal Law. More recently. he has litigated and trained extensively on issues related to lengthy sentences for juvenile conduct.

Hollis Whitson
Hollis graduated from Yale Law School in 1984 and since then has worked almost exclusively in federal and state criminal law. At the New Mexico State Public Defender, she served as a felony trial attorney, the chief appellate defender, and as founder and head of the statewide Mental Health Division. In 2000, she came to Colorado to work at the Denver office of the Federal Defender. In 2014, she was honored by the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar with its prestigious Jonathan Olom Award and in 2013, received the Outstanding Legal Service Award from Coloradans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. She is a frequent CLE presenter on a variety of criminal law topics, most notably the Annual Criminal Law Roadshow hosted by the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar.
